The important part is not simply finding incorrect facts. It is identifying where ChatGPT misunderstands what your company does, who it serves, what it offers, how it differs from competitors, and what it appears to be known for.<\/p><p>ChatGPT can be wrong about a business in several different ways. It can repeat information that used to be accurate but is now outdated. It can confuse your company with another business that has a similar name. It can combine accurate facts into an inaccurate conclusion. It can also generate information that has no factual basis at all.<\/p><p>That distinction matters because checking whether ChatGPT knows your address, founder, services, or other individual facts does not tell you whether it understands your company correctly.<\/p><p>For example, ChatGPT might correctly identify every service listed on your website but still place your company in the wrong business category. It might know where you are located but misunderstand the geographic market you serve. It might correctly describe your product but misunderstand who should buy it. It can have many of the pieces right while assembling those pieces into the wrong picture.<\/p><p>You can perform a basic check yourself. In fact, I think <a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/answers\/why-cant-i-just-ask-chatgpt-myself\/\">asking ChatGPT about your own business<\/a> is a useful place to start.<\/p><p>The problem with stopping there is that you already know your company. That makes obvious factual errors easy to catch, but interpretation problems can be much harder to recognize. A statement can contain nothing obviously false and still give a prospective customer the wrong impression of the business.<\/p><p>This is why I separate AI business understanding from a simple accuracy check. In my own analysis, I question ChatGPT about a business from multiple directions rather than asking it one broad question and accepting the response. I also compare what ChatGPT says with Claude and Gemini using a <a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/process\/\">consistent evaluation process<\/a>. That makes it possible to see whether an incorrect interpretation belongs to one system or whether several major AI systems independently reached the same conclusion.<\/p><p>When all three misunderstand the same part of a business, that is considerably more interesting than one strange ChatGPT answer.<\/p><p>The goal is not merely to produce a list titled \u201cthings ChatGPT got wrong.\u201d It is to determine what picture of your company ChatGPT would give someone who does not already know the truth.<\/p><p>That is also the distinction behind my <a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/\">AI Business Understanding Report<\/a>. I am not checking whether an AI system can recite isolated facts about a company. I am examining the understanding those facts produced and comparing that understanding across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.<\/p><p>That is the question that matters because your prospective customer does not have your knowledge available to correct the answer. They only see what ChatGPT tells them. The important part is not simply finding incorrect facts. It is identifying where ChatGPT misunderstands what your company does, who it serves, what it offers, how it differs from competitors, and what it appears to be known for.<\/p><p>ChatGPT can be wrong about a business in several different ways. It can repeat information that used to be accurate but is now outdated. It can confuse your company with another business that has a similar name. It can combine accurate facts into an inaccurate conclusion. It can also generate information that has no factual basis at all.<\/p><p>That distinction matters because checking whether ChatGPT knows your address, founder, services, or other individual facts does not tell you whether it understands your company correctly.<\/p><p>For example, ChatGPT might correctly identify every service listed on your website but still place your company in the wrong business category. It might know where you are located but misunderstand the geographic market you serve. It might correctly describe your product but misunderstand who should buy it. It can have many of the pieces right while assembling those pieces into the wrong picture.<\/p><p>You can perform a basic check yourself. In fact, I think <a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/answers\/why-cant-i-just-ask-chatgpt-myself\/\">asking ChatGPT about your own business<\/a> is a useful place to start.<\/p><p>The problem with stopping there is that you already know your company. That makes obvious factual errors easy to catch, but interpretation problems can be much harder to recognize. A statement can contain nothing obviously false and still give a prospective customer the wrong impression of the business.<\/p><p>This is why I separate AI business understanding from a simple accuracy check. In my own analysis, I question ChatGPT about a business from multiple directions rather than asking it one broad question and accepting the response. I also compare what ChatGPT says with Claude and Gemini using a <a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/process\/\">consistent evaluation process<\/a>. That makes it possible to see whether an incorrect interpretation belongs to one system or whether several major AI systems independently reached the same conclusion.<\/p><p>When all three misunderstand the same part of a business, that is considerably more interesting than one strange ChatGPT answer.<\/p><p>The goal is not merely to produce a list titled \u201cthings ChatGPT got wrong.\u201d It is to determine what picture of your company ChatGPT would give someone who does not already know the truth.<\/p><p>That is also the distinction behind my <a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/\">AI Business Understanding Report<\/a>. I am not checking whether an AI system can recite isolated facts about a company. I am examining the understanding those facts produced and comparing that understanding across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.<\/p><p>That is the question that matters because your prospective customer does not have your knowledge available to correct the answer. They only see what ChatGPT tells them.
