There is no standard price because the term &#8220;AI visibility audit&#8221; is being used for very different services. The important question is not simply what the audit costs, but what is actually being audited for that price.<\/p><p>Current published pricing shows just how wide the range has become. Some providers offer focused audits for a few hundred dollars. More extensive professional audits can run from roughly $500 to $5,000. Large agency engagements involving extensive prompt testing, competitor analysis, multiple markets, implementation planning, or ongoing consulting can reach $8,000 to $25,000 or more.<\/p><p>That does not necessarily mean the more expensive audit is better. It means you need to compare scope before comparing price.<\/p><h2>Why AI Visibility Audit Prices Vary So Much<\/h2><p>Part of the problem is that there is not yet a universally accepted definition of an AI visibility audit.<\/p><p>One company may scan your website, check whether AI crawlers can access it, inspect schema, run several prompts, and generate a score.<\/p><p>Another may manually evaluate how several AI systems describe your business, test dozens or hundreds of questions, compare your business with competitors, examine citations, identify inaccurate information, and provide recommendations.<\/p><p>Both can call the finished product an AI visibility audit.<\/p><p>They are not the same thing.<\/p><p>That is why I think the better question is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/insights\/what-should-an-ai-visibility-audit-include\/\">what should an AI visibility audit actually include?<\/a><\/strong><\/p><p>Once you know what is being tested, the price becomes much easier to evaluate.<\/p><h2>Automated and Manual Audits Should Not Be Priced the Same<\/h2><p>Automation is another major reason prices vary.<\/p><p>Software can run large numbers of prompts, collect mentions, calculate scores, and track changes relatively cheaply. That can be useful when your goal is ongoing measurement across a large number of queries.<\/p><p>Manual analysis requires someone to examine what the AI actually said, compare answers, identify contradictions, separate meaningful differences from noise, and decide what those results mean for the business.<\/p><p>Those are fundamentally different types of work.<\/p><p>I have written separately about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/insights\/manual-vs-automated-ai-visibility-audits\/\">manual versus automated AI visibility audits<\/a><\/strong> because the distinction matters when evaluating price. A $100 automated report should not be compared directly with a $1,000 manual analysis simply because both have &#8220;AI visibility audit&#8221; written on the invoice.<\/p><h2>What Should You Look At Besides Price?<\/h2><p>Before paying for an AI visibility audit, find out exactly what you will receive.<\/p><p>How many AI systems will be examined? How many questions or prompts will be tested? Are competitors included? Will the audit show you the actual AI responses or only a score? Is the analysis performed by a person or generated automatically? Does it identify inaccurate or conflicting information? Are recommendations included? Is implementation part of the price or sold separately?<\/p><p>Those details tell you far more than the price alone.<\/p><p>This is also why <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/insights\/how-to-choose-the-best-ai-visibility-tool\/\">choosing the best AI visibility tool<\/a><\/strong> and choosing someone to analyze AI understanding are not necessarily the same decision. Software is excellent at collecting repeatable measurements. Human analysis is better suited to determining what a collection of AI answers actually means.<\/p><h2>My Own Pricing Is a Useful Example<\/h2><p>My work provides one example of why comparing the deliverable matters.<\/p><p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/\">Frank Masotti AI Business Understanding Report<\/a><\/strong> costs $495 one time. I manually evaluate ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini and analyze what the three systems understand, misunderstand, agree on, disagree on, and omit about a business.<\/p><p>It is deliberately not an ongoing AI visibility optimization service, software subscription, or implementation package.<\/p><p>I explain <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/why-does-the-report-cost-495.html\">why the report costs $495<\/a><\/strong> separately because the price reflects the work involved and the specific question the report is designed to answer.<\/p><p>That is one approach. Other audits are designed to answer different questions and can reasonably cost more or less.<\/p><h2>So What Is a Reasonable Price for an AI Visibility Audit?<\/h2><p>There is no single reasonable price without knowing the scope.<\/p><p>A relatively inexpensive automated audit may be perfectly reasonable if you want a quick measurement or technical check. A manual audit costing hundreds or several thousand dollars may be reasonable if substantial research and interpretation are involved. The important question is not simply what the audit costs, but what is actually being audited for that price.<\/p><p>Current published pricing shows just how wide the range has become. Some providers offer focused audits for a few hundred dollars. More extensive professional audits can run from roughly $500 to $5,000. Large agency engagements involving extensive prompt testing, competitor analysis, multiple markets, implementation planning, or ongoing consulting can reach $8,000 to $25,000 or more.<\/p><p>That does not necessarily mean the more expensive audit is better. It means you need to compare scope before comparing price.<\/p><h2>Why AI Visibility Audit Prices Vary So Much<\/h2><p>Part of the problem is that there is not yet a universally accepted definition of an AI visibility audit.<\/p><p>One company may scan your website, check whether AI crawlers can access it, inspect schema, run several prompts, and generate a score.<\/p><p>Another may manually evaluate how several AI systems describe your business, test dozens or hundreds of questions, compare your business with competitors, examine citations, identify inaccurate information, and provide recommendations.<\/p><p>Both can call the finished product an AI visibility audit.<\/p><p>They are not the same thing.<\/p><p>That is why I think the better question is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/insights\/what-should-an-ai-visibility-audit-include\/\">what should an AI visibility audit actually include?<\/a><\/strong><\/p><p>Once you know what is being tested, the price becomes much easier to evaluate.<\/p><h2>Automated and Manual Audits Should Not Be Priced the Same<\/h2><p>Automation is another major reason prices vary.<\/p><p>Software can run large numbers of prompts, collect mentions, calculate scores, and track changes relatively cheaply. That can be useful when your goal is ongoing measurement across a large number of queries.<\/p><p>Manual analysis requires someone to examine what the AI actually said, compare answers, identify contradictions, separate meaningful differences from noise, and decide what those results mean for the business.<\/p><p>Those are fundamentally different types of work.<\/p><p>I have written separately about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/insights\/manual-vs-automated-ai-visibility-audits\/\">manual versus automated AI visibility audits<\/a><\/strong> because the distinction matters when evaluating price. A $100 automated report should not be compared directly with a $1,000 manual analysis simply because both have \"AI visibility audit\" written on the invoice.<\/p><h2>What Should You Look At Besides Price?<\/h2><p>Before paying for an AI visibility audit, find out exactly what you will receive.<\/p><p>How many AI systems will be examined? How many questions or prompts will be tested? Are competitors included? Will the audit show you the actual AI responses or only a score? Is the analysis performed by a person or generated automatically? Does it identify inaccurate or conflicting information? Are recommendations included? Is implementation part of the price or sold separately?<\/p><p>Those details tell you far more than the price alone.<\/p><p>This is also why <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/insights\/how-to-choose-the-best-ai-visibility-tool\/\">choosing the best AI visibility tool<\/a><\/strong> and choosing someone to analyze AI understanding are not necessarily the same decision. Software is excellent at collecting repeatable measurements. Human analysis is better suited to determining what a collection of AI answers actually means.<\/p><h2>My Own Pricing Is a Useful Example<\/h2><p>My work provides one example of why comparing the deliverable matters.<\/p><p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/\">Frank Masotti AI Business Understanding Report<\/a><\/strong> costs $495 one time. I manually evaluate ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini and analyze what the three systems understand, misunderstand, agree on, disagree on, and omit about a business.<\/p><p>It is deliberately not an ongoing AI visibility optimization service, software subscription, or implementation package.<\/p><p>I explain <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/frankmasotti.com\/why-does-the-report-cost-495.html\">why the report costs $495<\/a><\/strong> separately because the price reflects the work involved and the specific question the report is designed to answer.<\/p><p>That is one approach. Other audits are designed to answer different questions and can reasonably cost more or less.<\/p><h2>So What Is a Reasonable Price for an AI Visibility Audit?<\/h2><p>There is no single reasonable price without knowing the scope.<\/p><p>A relatively inexpensive automated audit may be perfectly reasonable if you want a quick measurement or technical check. A manual audit costing hundreds or several thousand dollars may be reasonable if substantial research and interpretation are involved.
