it offers vestibular rehabilitation, whether it works with older adults, or which local practice appears best suited for recovery after surgery.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The <a practice works with runners?\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cCan I go to this physical therapist without a doctor referral?\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cDoes this clinic treat balance problems in older adults?\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cWhich physical therapy practice would you choose for shoulder rehabilitation?\u201d<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Those questions require AI to understand considerably more than your practice name and address.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">It may need to understand your clinical focus, patient populations, services, therapist specialties, locations, and the types of conditions or recovery needs associated with your practice.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">That is where AI search visibility becomes much more complicated than simply being class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Another may specialize in vestibular rehabilitation and balance disorders.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Others may provide pelvic health physical therapy, neurologic rehabilitation, pediatric therapy, geriatric care, wound management, aquatic therapy, post surgical rehabilitation, or a combination of several areas.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Even within orthopedic physical therapy, the patient may be looking for something specific.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">They could need rehabilitation following ACL reconstruction, total joint replacement, rotator cuff surgery, a running injury, chronic back pain, or another musculoskeletal condition.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A broad answer such as \u201cthis is a physical therapy clinic\u201d may therefore be technically correct while telling the patient very little about whether the practice is appropriate for what they actually need.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">That distinction makes physical therapy practices especially useful to examine through an AI audit.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">You want to know whether ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude understand the areas of care that actually distinguish your practice.<\/p><h2>Does AI Understand Your Specialties or Just the Category?<\/h2><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The category \u201cphysical therapy\u201d is only the starting point.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Suppose your clinic has developed a strong vestibular program.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A patient asking for help with dizziness, vertigo, or balance problems may never phrase the request as \u201cfind me a physical therapy practice.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">They may describe the problem instead.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The same thing can happen with pelvic health, sports rehabilitation, neurologic conditions, post operative recovery, or pediatric therapy.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The patient asks about the need.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">AI has to connect that need with the correct type of care and then connect that type of care with your practice.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">If an AI system recognizes your clinic only as a general orthopedic practice, an important specialty could disappear from that chain.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The opposite can happen too.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A clinic might once have promoted a particular service heavily but no longer provide it. a particular specialty with a therapist who has since left.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The practice and the clinicians inside it are related entities, but they are not identical.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">That relationship deserves testing.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The same issue appears in my broader discussion of <a Questions Can Affect Patient Fit<\/h2><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Physical therapy also has an unusual patient access issue.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A potential patient may want to know whether they can schedule physical therapy directly or whether some form of physician involvement, referral, authorization, or plan of care requirement applies to their situation.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The answer can depend on the patient&#8217;s circumstances, payer, and applicable rules.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">That makes it especially important that an AI system does not turn a complicated access question into an overly broad statement about the clinic.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A patient could ask:<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cCan I just make an appointment here?\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cDo I need my doctor to refer me?\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cWill Medicare cover physical therapy at this practice?\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cDoes this clinic accept my insurance?\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Those questions are different from asking whether the practice exists.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">They ask whether the practice appears accessible and appropriate for that particular patient.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">An AI system can understand your clinical specialty correctly and still produce an incomplete picture if it gets the practical side of becoming a patient wrong.<\/p><h2>What Kind of Patient Does AI Think You Treat?<\/h2><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Patient population is another major distinction.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A physical therapy practice may work predominantly with athletes.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Another may focus heavily on older adults.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Some practices treat children.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Others concentrate on orthopedic surgery recovery, neurologic conditions, balance problems, chronic pain, or pelvic health.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Some clinics serve a broad population but have particular areas for which they are especially well known.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Those differences can influence AI recommendations.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Someone asking for a physical therapist after a hip replacement is presenting a different need from someone asking where a competitive runner should go for a recurring hamstring problem.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A useful AI recommendation should recognize that difference.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Your practice might be an excellent fit for one and completely ordinary for the other.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">That is the kind of business understanding I want to see when evaluating a physical therapy practice.<\/p><h2>Location Can Matter Differently for Physical Therapy<\/h2><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Physical therapy usually involves repeated visits.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">That gives location and convenience more weight than they might have for a one time service.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A patient recovering from surgery or attending therapy several times a week may care considerably about which clinic location provides the needed service.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">For a practice with multiple locations, AI may therefore need to understand more than the company level service list.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">One office might offer aquatic therapy while another does not.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A particular therapist may work at only one location.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A specialty program may be concentrated in one clinic.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Hours or patient availability may differ.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">An AI system could correctly recognize the overall practice while connecting the patient with the wrong location for the service being discussed.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">That is a very different problem from simply failing to find the company.<\/p><h2>AI Recommendations Can Change With the Question<\/h2><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Physical therapy is also a strong example of why recommendation testing cannot rely on one generic prompt.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Consider how different these questions are:<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cBest physical therapy practice near me.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cPhysical therapist for vestibular rehabilitation.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cPelvic floor physical therapist.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cPhysical therapist for an older adult with balance problems.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The same clinic may be highly relevant to one query and barely relevant to another.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">That does not necessarily mean the AI system is wrong.<\/p><p locations, or clinicians.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Those differences are useful evidence.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">They show where your practice appears to be understood consistently and representative of artificial intelligence generally. Separated<\/h2><p>Physical therapy practices also have an identity issue that many other local businesses do not.<\/p><p>Patients may research the practice itself, but they may also research individual therapists.<\/p><p>A physical therapist may become known for a particular specialty, certification, sport, treatment population, or clinical focus.<\/p><p>That creates several possible AI interpretations.<\/p><p>ChatGPT might understand that one therapist specializes in vestibular care but fail to connect that therapist strongly with the practice.<\/p><p>Gemini might recognize the clinic's sports rehabilitation work but overlook its pelvic health services.<\/p><p>Claude might understand the broad practice correctly but associate a particular specialty with a therapist who has since left.<\/p><p>The practice and the clinicians inside it are related entities, but they are not identical.<\/p><p>That relationship deserves testing.<\/p><p>The same issue appears in my broader and Referral Questions Can Affect Patient Fit<\/h2><p>Physical therapy also has an unusual patient access issue.<\/p><p>A potential patient may want to know whether they can schedule physical therapy directly or whether some form of physician involvement, referral, authorization, or plan of care requirement applies to their situation.<\/p><p>The answer can depend on the patient's circumstances, payer, and applicable rules.<\/p><p>That makes it especially important that an AI system does not turn a complicated access question into an overly broad statement about the clinic.<\/p><p>A patient could ask:<\/p><p>\u201cCan I just make an appointment here?\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cDo I need my doctor to refer me?\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cWill Medicare cover physical therapy at this practice?\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cDoes this clinic accept my insurance?\u201d<\/p><p>Those questions are different from asking whether the practice exists.<\/p><p>They ask whether the practice appears accessible and appropriate for that particular patient.<\/p><p>An AI system can understand your clinical specialty correctly and still produce an incomplete picture if it gets the practical side of becoming a patient wrong.<\/p><h2>What Kind of Patient Does AI Think You Treat?<\/h2><p>Patient population is another major distinction.<\/p><p>A physical therapy practice may work predominantly with athletes.<\/p><p>Another may focus heavily on older adults.<\/p><p>Some practices treat children.<\/p><p>Others concentrate on orthopedic surgery recovery, neurologic conditions, balance problems, chronic pain, or pelvic health.<\/p><p>Some clinics serve a broad population but have particular areas for which they are especially well known.<\/p><p>Those differences can influence AI recommendations.<\/p><p>Someone asking for a physical therapist after a hip replacement is presenting a different need from someone asking where a competitive runner should go for a recurring hamstring problem.<\/p><p>A useful AI recommendation should recognize that difference.<\/p><p>Your practice might be an excellent fit for one and completely ordinary for the other.<\/p><p>That is the kind of business understanding I want to see when evaluating a physical therapy practice.<\/p><h2>Location Can Matter Differently for Physical Therapy<\/h2><p>Physical therapy usually involves repeated visits.<\/p><p>That gives location and convenience more weight than they might have for a one time service.<\/p><p>A patient recovering from surgery or attending therapy several times a week may care considerably about which clinic location provides the needed service.<\/p><p>For a practice with multiple locations, AI may therefore need to understand more than the company level service list.<\/p><p>One office might offer aquatic therapy while another does not.<\/p><p>A particular therapist may work at only one location.<\/p><p>A specialty program may be concentrated in one clinic.<\/p><p>Hours or patient availability may differ.<\/p><p>An AI system could correctly recognize the overall practice while connecting the patient with the wrong location for the service being discussed.<\/p><p>That is a very different problem from simply failing to find the company.<\/p><h2>AI Recommendations Can Change With the Question<\/h2><p>Physical therapy is also a strong example of does not necessarily mean the AI system is wrong.<\/p><p>It means recommendation visibility depends heavily on what the system understands about both the practice and the patient's need.<\/p><p>My
