How Does AI Interpret My Business?

Where the raw material comes from, and how a model decides which sources to believe.

AI interprets your business by pulling together information from many sources. Your website is part of that picture, but it is not the only part.

Models can also draw from business listings, reviews, social profiles, news coverage, partner websites, older pages, directories, and other places where your company has been mentioned. Each source may contain a useful fact, an outdated description, or a partial version of what your business does.

AI does not simply choose one source and declare it correct. It looks for patterns across the information it can access and uses those patterns to form an answer. When several sources agree, that information is more likely to become part of its interpretation. When sources conflict, the model may combine pieces of both into an explanation that is not fully accurate.

That is why an official website does not automatically erase older information elsewhere. If your website says one thing while an old directory, article, or profile says another, AI may treat both as evidence about the same business.

The model also does not evaluate information exactly like a person would. It may give more weight to information that appears repeatedly, is clearly connected to your business, fits the question being asked, or matches the broader patterns it has learned about your industry.

This is how a business can be understood incorrectly even when no single source is completely wrong. The issue may be that the available information creates the wrong overall picture.

The report looks at that interpretation directly. It shows what ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude appear to believe about your business, where their answers agree or differ, and where the picture may be incomplete, outdated, or off track.
